King Charles welcomed Scottish composer Sir James MacMillan to Dumfries House, where he presented him with two royal honors.
The Royal Family shared photos of the occasion on its official Instagram account on Friday, September 18.
According to the post, the King presented MacMillan with the insignia of a Knight of the Order of the Thistle. He also awarded him The King’s Medal for Music.

MacMillan is a well-known Scottish composer and conductor who gained international attention in 1990.
The ceremony followed a speech by King Charles to AI leaders in Scotland. During the address, he spoke about both the possibilities and the risks of artificial intelligence.
The King described the technology and the speed of its development as “intriguing and deeply concerning in equal measure.”
