The British monarch wished Malaysia peace and prosperity on its National Day
King Charles has sent a public message to Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, to mark the country’s National Day.
The two-page letter was written on behalf of King Charles and Queen Camilla. It was shared by the British High Commission in Malaysia.
“Your Majesty, on the occasion of your Independence Day, my wife and I send our warmest congratulations to you and to the people of Malaysia,” the King wrote.
Charles praised the strong relationship between the United Kingdom and Malaysia. He said the partnership is built on shared values, respect and their connection through the Commonwealth.
The King also highlighted the long history of educational links between the two countries. He said these connections bring people together and create opportunities for future generations.
Charles praised the Commonwealth for its diversity and the energy of its young people. He said cooperation and unity are especially important during times of global uncertainty.
The monarch also looked forward to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in November. He said the event would give member countries a chance to renew their shared goals and plan for the future.
Looking ahead to the 70th anniversary of UK-Malaysia diplomatic relations in 2027, Charles said he hoped the two countries would strengthen their cooperation in trade, technology and other important areas.
He also called for continued work on clean energy, environmental protection and sustainable farming. In particular, he praised the important role small farmers play in food security across the Commonwealth.
King Charles ended his message by wishing Malaysia a peaceful and successful year.
“My wife and I send our sincerest regards to you and to the people of Malaysia for a peaceful and prosperous year ahead,” he wrote before signing the letter, “Charles R.”
