Neighbors share details about the couple’s low-key departure
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly left their Montecito home without drawing much attention.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be planning a longer stay in the UK. According to their neighbors, there were no large moving trucks, farewell parties or other signs that they were leaving California.
“There were no moving trucks, no parties, nothing at all,” one neighbor told the Daily Mail.
“One day they were here and the next they were back in England,” the resident added.
Another neighbor said they rarely saw the couple in Montecito and probably would not have noticed their departure if it had not appeared in the news.
A third resident, named Susan, said she sometimes saw Harry and Meghan running errands but never met them. She claimed that she left a bottle of wine at their gate to welcome them in 2020, but it was returned unopened the next day.
Susan also suggested that the couple preferred spending time with wealthy or famous people.
The Daily Mail further reported that signs of Harry and Meghan had disappeared from some local shops. These reportedly included copies of Harry’s memoir, Spare, and products from Meghan’s As Ever brand.
Boutique owner Wendy Foster described Meghan as “very polite.” However, she questioned why the couple continued to live in the United States, where their royal titles carry less importance.
“In Britain, their titles mean something,” Foster said.
Harry and Meghan reportedly arrived in the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, on a private jet on August 26.
