The palace shared a message of thanks hours after Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer, criticized his response to his account of a conversation with King Charles.
Speaking to The Mail on Sunday, Spencer accused the monarch of “gaslighting” him after the royal household questioned his version of events.
“It is not every day you wake up to find you've been gaslit by the king,” he said.
Spencer called the palace’s response unfair and hurtful. He said it suggested he had lied, while arguing that the King could not deny his account.
Later, the royal family posted a video of Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, during her visit to Zambia.
“Thank you to everyone who welcomed The Duchess of Edinburgh to Zambia!” the caption read.
Sophie visited Zambia from September 14 to 19 to celebrate the country’s relationship with the UK. Her program focused on shared goals, including gender equality, protecting the environment, and working together on education and research.
Fans left supportive comments beneath the video.
“Lovely video of The Duchess in Zambia. She’s always so kind with everyone she meets during these foreign visits,” one person wrote.
Another added: “She is so great I can see why the Queen loved her so much.”
