Prince Harry jumped from a plane near Toronto to keep a promise to a 102-year-old World War II veteran and support military charities.
According to the Sunnybrook Foundation, Harry met veteran Ed Marshall last year. The two connected over their military service and their work helping others.
Marshall told Harry about the charity skydive he had completed for his 100th birthday. His story inspired them to plan another jump together.
Marshall trained as a paratrooper during World War II. Harry served in the British Army for 10 years, including two tours in Afghanistan.
However, a medical check found that Marshall could not safely take part in another skydive. His grandson, Bailey, joined Harry for the jump instead.
Marshall still went along for the flight and cheered them on from the plane.
After landing, Harry’s first call was to his wife, Meghan Markle.
