Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer, has posted on Instagram following reports that Prince William asked him to leave painful family memories in the past.
According to New Idea, people described as William’s friends say the Prince of Wales is upset that Spencer’s book has brought up old wounds.
“William’s heartbroken this is all being dragged up again,” one source told the magazine.
The source claimed William had asked his uncle to “let his mum rest in peace.” They added that he does not want more stories about Diana to increase tensions within the family.
The magazine’s sources said William wants to avoid a public argument and is concerned about protecting his mother’s memory. One source also claimed the situation had damaged his trust in his uncle.
Neither William nor Spencer has publicly confirmed these claims.
Following the reports, Spencer shared photos of flowers on Instagram with the caption: “September blooms - in Althorp’s drying garden.”
His post did not address the claims about William.
