Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Duchess Sophie will attend the Global Eye Health Summit in Antigua and Barbuda in early November.
The Duchess of Edinburgh said she looks forward to joining eye health leaders at the event. The summit will highlight efforts around the world to prevent sight loss that can be avoided.
The announcement came as the royal family marked World Sight Day on its official social media accounts. The posts recognised Sophie’s work as Global Ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB).
The royal family also shared a photo from her 2025 visit to Kirtipur Eye Hospital in Nepal.
In its message, the Palace highlighted progress against trachoma, an eye infection that can cause blindness. It said the estimated number of people at risk has fallen by 94%.
The Palace credited this progress to communities, health workers, governments and partner organisations working together.
