Tensions between Prince Harry and Prince William are reportedly growing.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have kept their move quiet, and Prince William may appear calm in public. But an unnamed source says the disagreement between them is still serious. The Sussexes’ return has become one of the biggest news stories of 2026.
The source, who spoke to New Idea, said Prince William was “seething,” despite how he appears in public.
The source also said William was shocked by the Sussexes’ appearance at an event in Nottingham. “He could not believe what he was seeing,” the source said, adding that it was “the final straw” for him.
A few weeks earlier, King Charles had described Harry and Meghan as “non-working royals and private citizens” in a letter to the Lord Chamberlain. But the source said the couple’s public walkabout looked like an official royal event. “It couldn’t have looked more like an official royal duty,” the source said. “It was as if they’d totally ignored Charles’ letter. William is furious about it.”
The source claimed William was so angry that he would do all he could to stop the couple. “If he could kick them out of the country right now, he would,” the source said.
The source added that William and the King’s advisers are holding serious meetings. They are reportedly discussing how to prevent Harry and Meghan from turning up at other events or overlapping with events attended by senior royals.
