Prince Harry’s Sandringham flight story resurfaces after Andrew’s move

Prince Harry’s account of military flights over Sandringham has drawn attention again following reports that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has moved to the estate.

According to Radar Online, Harry broke a no-fly rule over Sandringham during his military training.

In his memoir, Spare, Harry recalled his father, now King Charles, visiting him during a training exercise. Harry was sitting on a quad bike in the marshes and communicating with a Typhoon fighter jet several miles away.

While waiting for the jet to fly overhead, Harry had a brief chat with his father. He said Charles was pleased with his progress and happy to see how hard he was working.

Harry also wrote that his father loved watching fighter jets fly overhead at high speed. But people in the nearby village of Wolferton were unhappy about the noise.

He said RAF Marham had received dozens of complaints about jets flying low over residents’ homes. According to Harry, Sandringham was supposed to be a no-fly zone, but people who complained were told, “Such is war.”

Harry recalled his father ending their chat by saying: “Yes, yes, darling boy, back to work.”

Flight rules around Sandringham became stricter in December 2021, restricting aircraft from flying below 2,000 feet.

The story has resurfaced after reports that Andrew left Royal Lodge in Windsor and moved to Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate.
