Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, have faced criticism on social media after a copy of Meghan Markle’s children’s book, The Bench, appeared on eBay with a personal message addressed to them.
The first-edition copy was listed for £19,999.99, with the seller also accepting offers.
Photos in the listing showed a handwritten note to “Eug & Jack”. The message described the bond between a father and son and said the original poem was written at Frogmore. Meghan also wrote that she hoped Eugenie would experience the same love there with her family.
The note was signed “All love, Meghan” and dated 2021.
The seller ended the listing on Friday, saying the book was no longer available. This did not confirm whether it had been sold.
Some social media users suggested that the couple had failed to appreciate the personal gift. One widely shared post accused Eugenie of either throwing it away or selling it.
However, the information provided does not establish who listed the book or how it came into the seller’s possession. There is no evidence in the report that Eugenie or Jack put it up for sale.
