Prince of Wales Speaks Out Following Revelations of Duchy of Cornwall Earnings
Prince William has issued a statement amidst mounting criticism over alleged undisclosed earnings from the Duchy of Cornwall, following reports highlighting the revenue generated from his private estate.
Currently in Cape Town for the Earthshot Prize, William shared a video message with Australian conservationist Robert Irwin, who serves as an ambassador for the initiative. In the Instagram video, William praised Robert’s dedication to conservation and expressed excitement for the upcoming Earthshot Prize Awards on Wednesday.
When asked about his favourite African animal, William shared, “It’s a very tough question. My children ask me this regularly. I think I’m gonna have to say the cheetah—fantastic animal.”
Robert Irwin shared his enthusiasm for their collaboration, captioning the post, “A wonderful morning for a hike on the stunning Signal Hill, Cape Town, discussing the amazing conservation work happening here! I’m honoured to be part of the @Earthshotprize family and can’t wait for the Awards tomorrow night.”
William’s statement comes as Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times reported that both King Charles and Prince William’s estates, the Duchy of Lancaster and Duchy of Cornwall, have profited millions through arrangements with public bodies and charities, sparking public debate over transparency and royal finances.
