Future queen offers heartfelt message of hope and connection
Catherine, Princess of Wales, has released a moving new short film along with a personal message, encouraging people to “ignite their inner fire” and cherish love, friendship, and the natural world. The video, titled Summer, is the second in a series inspired by the solace she found in nature during her recovery from cancer.
Filmed across Sheffield, Bradford, North Wales, Anglesey, and England’s south coast, the piece features Catherine’s voiceover rather than an on-camera appearance. Shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s official Instagram account on Wednesday, August 13, it is a celebration of human connection set against the backdrop of the season’s beauty.
“Our lives flourish when we cherish the bonds of love and friendship,” she wrote in her accompanying message. “It has never been more important to appreciate the value of one another, and of Mother Nature. Here’s to Summer. C.”
Kensington Palace said the episode “remains rooted in nature but also captures meaningful human interactions and embraces the joy of connection.” The film includes ballet dancers from The Royal Ballet School and scenes of communities enjoying summer’s warmth.
In her narration, Catherine reflects on the season’s abundance: “Just as the flowers bloom and the fruits ripen, we too are reminded of our own potential for growth. It is the time to ignite our inner fire and explore our own creativity, passions, and dreams.” She speaks of families and friends coming together, embracing joy in fleeting moments, and simply loving and being loved.
This release follows a personal video shared in May, in which Catherine revealed how she embraced “the healing power of nature” during her treatment. Further films in the series, including Autumn and Winter, will be released in due course.
