Prince William opens up about King Charles’ illness

Future King admits 2024 was the ‘hardest year’ for the family

Prince William has spoken candidly about the difficulties faced by the royal family amid King Charles’ cancer battle.

In a new trailer for The Reluctant Traveller on Apple TV+, due for release on 3 October, the Prince of Wales reflected on the past year while giving actor and host Eugene Levy a tour of Windsor Castle.

William greeted the comedian in the castle’s Quadrangle, arriving on an electric scooter before shaking his hand and joking about offering “personalised tours everywhere.”

But it was the Prince’s emotional admission that resonated most. Speaking about the strain of 2024, when both King Charles and Catherine were diagnosed with cancer, he said: “I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had. You know, life is sent to test us as well, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are.”

Buckingham Palace revealed the King’s cancer diagnosis in February. Just weeks later, Catherine also disclosed that she too was undergoing treatment, though she has since completed it. King Charles, however, remains in medical care.
