Father and son clash over Prince Andrew’s role in royal life
Tensions are building between King Charles and Prince William as they struggle to agree on how to handle the ongoing controversies surrounding Prince Andrew.
The royal family has already been under scrutiny after Sarah Ferguson’s sympathetic email to Jeffrey Epstein came to light, adding to the embarrassment caused by Andrew’s long list of scandals. The Duke of York’s recent appearances at high-profile family events, including the Duchess of Kent’s funeral, have only fuelled William’s frustration.
According to Closer magazine, the Prince of Wales has made it clear that he wants to distance the family from his uncle for good. An insider claimed, “William would love to see him booted from the royal household permanently, but he’s not getting as much support from other family members as he hoped, and it’s creating serious tension behind the scenes.”
The source added that William has grown increasingly angry at Andrew’s continued invitations to certain royal functions. While William reportedly intends to take a much harder line when he becomes King, his father is not prepared to act as decisively.
King Charles has sent a firm message to his eldest son, insisting that cutting Andrew off completely is not as “simple” as William wants it to be. One insider explained, “That move could create an enemy within the family, and there are far more pressing issues the royals need to deal with right now.”
