Duke of York determined to stay despite pressure from Prince William
Prince Andrew’s feelings about Prince William’s reported wish to bar him from royal events have been revealed, and he is refusing to step aside.
The Duke of York has landed in negative headlines again after Sarah Ferguson described Jeffrey Epstein as her “supreme friend,” a remark that sparked fresh criticism. Following the fallout, King Charles and senior royals have come under growing pressure to cut ties with Andrew and his former wife altogether. Some supporters of the monarchy have even argued that the pair should not be invited to private family gatherings.
According to Closer Magazine, Andrew has no intention of going anywhere. A source claimed he wanted “everyone, his nephew included, to know that he intends to go nowhere and the entire eye rolling and bad mouthing in the world won’t change that.”
In fact, his attempts to rebuild his relationship with King Charles appear to be paying off. Insiders say he continues to be included in certain key gatherings, and much of the speculation about him being forced out of Royal Lodge has died down, at least for now.
Still, tensions remain with Prince William. The future king signalled his stance during an awkward encounter with Andrew at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral, making it clear that his uncle is unwelcome in his camp. Even so, those close to Andrew believe he is not taking William’s position seriously. They point out that ousting a senior family member would create the kind of scandal the monarchy is desperate to avoid.
