Sources claim the monarch wants reconciliation but insists on strict royal rules
King Charles and Prince Harry are reportedly still at odds over Meghan Markle, with insiders saying her role is a major sticking point in any potential reconciliation.
According to Radar Online, the king wants his estranged son back but is firm that Meghan would be expected to follow royal protocol if she returns to the fold. A source claimed Charles has made it clear that any comeback must come with the same expectations placed on Harry.
The outlet also reported that the monarch is considering further peace talks with his younger son as he looks for a way to rebuild their fractured relationship.
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich said security remains a key issue, claiming Harry is pushing for protection if he returns. “If Harry comes back, he will need security, and the king is definitely being pressured on this,” she said.
A palace insider added that Charles is also demanding respect for the institution and for Queen Camilla. “There is talk that His Majesty is insisting if Harry returns, he must respect the crown and his stepmother,” the source said.
Fordwich also suggested questions remain about Harry’s personal life, claiming there has been quiet speculation among courtiers about the state of his marriage.
“The king and Harry continue to clash over Meghan,” the insider repeated. “Charles insists that if she returns, she must agree to follow royal protocol, just as Harry would.”
