Prince Andrew is said to be facing growing anxiety behind palace walls as fresh uncertainty surrounds the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and what could unfold next.
The former Duke of York was recently taken into custody on suspicion of misconduct in public office on his 66th birthday. He was later released while investigations continue. Although he remains eighth in line to the throne, there are increasing reports that officials could consider removing him from the line of succession once inquiries are concluded.
Royal commentators believe the strain is likely mounting, even for someone known for his confidence.
Jennie Bond told The Mirror that Andrew is “an arrogant, self-assured man,” but suggested that even he must be feeling the pressure. Living under such scrutiny, she noted, would weigh heavily on anyone unless they were entirely unaware of the seriousness of the situation.
Bond added that he is likely dealing with constant worry over what further revelations may surface.
Afua Acheampong-Hagan also shared her perspective, saying she has no doubt the situation has affected his mental health. However, she stressed that personal distress does not remove responsibility, pointing out that it is possible for both realities to exist at the same time.
As investigations continue, questions remain over what consequences Andrew could ultimately face and how the wider royal institution may respond.
