The Princess of Wales is said to want peace between William and Harry but not a personal bond with Meghan
Catherine is not planning to form a close friendship with Meghan Markle, despite reports suggesting she may be ready to open a line of communication.
According to Radar Online, the Princess of Wales is considering extending an olive branch to Meghan as part of a wider effort to help heal the rift between William and Harry. A source claimed Catherine wants to encourage dialogue, even if William is not keen on the idea.
“Catherine has nothing but peace and love in her heart going into 2026,” the insider said. “She’s willing to open up communication with Meghan after years of silence, even if William thinks it’s a bad idea.”
However, royal insiders stressed that this does not mean Catherine wants a close personal relationship. “She has no plans to make Meghan a close friend,” the source said. “But she believes William and Harry would have a better chance of making up if she and Meghan can at least find common ground.”
Another insider added that Catherine has made it her mission to reunite the brothers and is deeply upset that they are no longer speaking.
From Meghan’s side, reconciliation may not be easy. A confidant said it would be hard for her to forgive Catherine, but she is said to feel sad that their children do not know their cousins. The source added that this shared concern could be a starting point for any future progress.
