Princess Eugenie steps down from charity role after reported Royal Ascot snub

Prince William’s reported decision involving the York sisters sparks fresh royal tensions

Princess Eugenie has reportedly stepped down from her role with an anti-slavery charity, just days after claims that Prince William made an embarrassing move involving the York sisters.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Sarah Ferguson and Andrew’s younger daughter has ended her association with the organisation Anti-Slavery International after serving as its patron for seven years.

The charity confirmed the development in a statement shared on its website.

“After seven years, our patronage from HRH Princess Eugenie of York has come to an end. We thank the Princess very much for her support for Anti-Slavery International. We hope that she continues to work to end slavery for good and deliver freedom for everyone,” the statement said.

Eugenie originally announced on October 18, 2019, which is marked as Anti-Slavery Day, that she would become a patron of the organisation.

Her decision comes shortly after reports claimed that she and her sister, their daughters of Sarah Ferguson and Andrew, were barred from attending Royal Ascot this year.

The move is believed to be linked to ongoing controversy surrounding Andrew and his connection to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Reports suggest the decision forms part of a broader effort to distance the York sisters from the core royal circle. According to Sky News, the order was reportedly made by Prince William.

The report claimed that Prince William had “blindsided” the sisters by banning them from the major royal event and instructing other members of the Royal Family not to be publicly seen with them.
