Claire Stoermer responds with humour as talk of a secret ceremony spreads
Rumours about Zendaya and Tom Holland secretly tying the knot picked up speed this week, but it was Zendaya’s mum who quietly cooled things down.
The buzz started after longtime stylist Law Roach made a bold comment on the red carpet at the Actor Awards on 1 March. Speaking to Hollywood Access, he casually claimed the couple’s “wedding has already happened,” before adding with a grin, “You missed it.” When pressed on whether he was serious, he doubled down and said it was “very true.”
That was enough to send fans into a frenzy.
But shortly after the clip began circulating online, Zendaya’s mother, Claire Stoermer, appeared to suggest the whole thing was not meant to be taken seriously. She shared a reaction on Instagram featuring a laughing emoji and wrote, “The laugh….” The light tone seemed to hint that the stylist’s comment was more playful than factual.
So far, neither Zendaya nor Tom Holland has confirmed any wedding.
The pair, who got engaged over the 2024 holiday season, have largely kept their relationship private. They first met in 2016 while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming, where they starred alongside each other. Romance rumours followed for years before their relationship was publicly acknowledged.
Speculation about an engagement intensified at last year’s Golden Globes when Zendaya stepped out wearing a diamond ring on that finger. Later that day, TMZ reported that the couple were officially engaged.
Tom appeared to confirm the news himself in September during a press interaction, when a reporter referred to Zendaya as his “girlfriend.” He quickly corrected the label, calling her his “fiancée” instead.
For now, though, it seems fans may have to wait a little longer for any real wedding bells. If there is a ceremony in the works, Zendaya and Tom are clearly keeping it on their own timeline.
