The Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue reshaping life outside the royal family as tensions reportedly remain
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are continuing to redefine their public roles years after stepping back from royal duties.
Six years after leaving working royal life, the couple are said to be combining charity work and public service with commercial projects.
During their recent visit to Australia, Harry and Meghan reportedly took part in engagements that resembled a traditional royal tour. The trip also included paid appearances, brand promotion and ticketed events.
The approach has reportedly caused frustration within royal circles, including with Prince William. According to reports, royal commentator Sally Bedell Smith said the couple are making reconciliation more difficult.
Author Valentine Low also said the monarchy is expected to remain above politics and commercial interests, adding that this was something the late Queen Elizabeth II wanted to protect.
However, a source close to Harry reportedly rejected suggestions he is acting against the late Queen’s wishes, insisting their work is not being carried out in the name of the institution.
Former royal press secretary Ailsa Anderson said the situation would be unacceptable to William.
Despite reports of renewed contact between Harry and King Charles III in recent months, the distance between Harry and William is said to remain.
Royal author Robert Jobson claimed William is focused on his own family and no longer interested in the ongoing drama.
Sources close to the Sussexes said Meghan supports Harry on royal matters and that the couple remain united. They also described both Harry and Meghan as realistic, saying they are taking small steps rather than expecting a quick resolution.
Insiders added that despite years of controversy, the couple stay focused on parenting and supporting one another.
A former staff member reportedly described Harry and Meghan as each other’s biggest supporters, adding that challenges have only brought them closer.
