King Charles III is reportedly feeling emotional about his relationship with grandchildren Archie and Lilibet following the announcement that his niece, Princess Eugenie, is expecting her third child.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the happy news on Monday, saying Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are preparing to welcome another baby this summer.
The palace statement added that King Charles had been informed and was “delighted” by the news.
Amid the announcement, royal experts have opened up about the monarch’s reported feelings regarding his ongoing rift with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
According to royal commentator Duncan Larcombe, the King is said to feel regret over how the family conflict unfolded and wishes circumstances were different.
Larcombe claimed that Charles enjoys being a grandfather and likely hopes for reconciliation so he can spend more time with Archie and Lilibet.
Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties before relocating to the United States with their son Archie. The couple later welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet of Sussex, in California.
The King reportedly last spent time with Archie and Lilibet during celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee in June 2022.
Royal expert Richard Palmer recently told the Mirror that senior royal figures made it clear at the time that Charles was thrilled to see his grandchildren during the family gathering.
