Meghan Markle has come under renewed criticism after royal commentators accused her of turning a personal gift from Prince Harry into a commercial opportunity.
The debate emerged following the couple’s eighth wedding anniversary, with critics questioning whether the Duchess of Sussex is increasingly blending private moments with her public business image.
Royal expert Tom Sykes addressed the issue in The Royalist Substack, where he claimed the “commercialisation” surrounding the couple now appears “totally desperate.”
According to Sykes, the situation has sparked fresh speculation about the Sussexes’ financial direction and long-term plans outside the Royal Family.
His comments arrived alongside reports suggesting Harry still hopes to repair relations with King Charles III and potentially secure a form of part-time royal role in the future.
Sykes claimed the Duke believes there could still be a place for both himself and Meghan within the royal fold, especially while the King remains in a position to make such decisions.
However, the commentator suggested Meghan does not share the same vision. He alleged the Duchess has developed what he described as a “new blueprint” for her future, one focused on independent ventures rather than a return to royal duties.
According to Sykes, Harry’s efforts to rebuild bridges may be difficult to achieve alone because any reconciliation would need to appear united from both sides.
He ultimately claimed the couple are currently divided on the issue, with neither appearing willing to change course.
