Prince Harry criticised over ‘need to stay relevant’ amid fresh lifestyle debate

Prince Harry has come under renewed criticism from royal commentators, with some claiming the Duke of Sussex struggles to relate to everyday financial realities while continuing to speak publicly about royal life.

Former People Magazine editor Dan Wakeford reportedly suggested Harry appears disconnected from the cost of ordinary living despite stepping away from royal duties years ago.

Writing for Express, commentator Rebecca Russell argued that the Duke has continued to maintain a high-profile lifestyle while facing increasing pressure to remain in the public spotlight.

“Honestly, the irony is thick enough to choke on,” she wrote, adding that Harry was “cut off from the bank of dad” in his mid-thirties but has shown little sign of downsizing his lifestyle.

Russell also claimed the Duke’s repeated criticism of the Royal Family may no longer resonate with audiences in the same way it once did.

According to the commentator, Harry’s public discussions about past grievances have become overly tied to his public image, despite his involvement in other charitable and media projects.

She further argued that if financial concerns are becoming more serious, Harry and Meghan Markle may need to rethink their public direction and media strategy.

Russell also took aim at some of the couple’s upcoming projects, including their highly discussed polo drama series, while questioning whether audiences still connect with Harry’s commentary on topics such as workplace wellbeing and personal struggles.

The Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle have continued building independent careers in the United States through media ventures, charity work and public speaking since stepping back as senior working royals in 2020.
