Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly absent from the guest list for Peter Phillips’ upcoming wedding, with royal insiders suggesting Prince William may have played a key role in the decision.
Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne, is set to marry NHS nurse Harriet Sperling in June after announcing their engagement last year. However, reports claim that several members of the royal family, including Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, have not been invited to the celebration.
Royal expert Jennie Bond believes the ongoing tensions within the royal family are at the heart of the situation. Speaking to the Mirror, she explained that the long-running rift between Harry and the rest of the family has continued to affect relationships across the monarchy.
According to Bond, Peter Phillips has remained particularly close to Prince William over the years, especially since Harry stepped away from royal duties and relocated to the United States.
“It’s clear that the rift between Harry and his father and brother has had repercussions throughout the whole family,” Bond said.
She added that family members are trying to avoid creating more tension by carefully managing invitations and public appearances.
Bond also noted that Harry may feel hurt by the exclusion, given that he once shared a close bond with Peter. However, she believes Peter’s loyalty now firmly lies with William.
The royal commentator described Peter as someone who previously acted as a calming influence between the two brothers during difficult periods. Still, she suggested that his relationship with William has strengthened in recent years as the Prince of Wales faced ongoing family pressures.
The reported wedding snub is likely to fuel further speculation about whether relations between Harry and the royal family can ever fully recover.
