King Charles has reportedly laid out clear expectations ahead of a possible meeting with Prince Harry during the Duke of Sussex's expected visit to the UK next month.
According to recent reports, Prince Harry is planning to travel to Britain in July with Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for an Invictus Games-related event. If the visit goes ahead, it would mark the children's first trip to the UK since 2022.
Amid growing speculation about a potential family reunion, an insider claims the King is willing to rebuild ties with his younger son but wants to avoid any further public controversy.
Speaking to the Examiner, the source alleged that King Charles has ignored advice from some within his circle in choosing to leave the door open for reconciliation.
"Charles has gone against a lot of advice to open this door and, truth be told, most people around him still think it's a huge mistake," the source claimed.
Despite those concerns, the insider said the King remains committed to improving relations with Prince Harry, particularly because he wants to spend time with his grandchildren.
However, the source claimed that Charles has made it clear there must be no controversy surrounding the visit.
"He has made it very clear to Harry that there cannot be any drama or any hint that this trip is being used for personal gain," the insider said.
According to the report, the King is aware he is taking what the source described as a "huge risk" and is determined to ensure any meeting remains private and focused on family.
"The King is willing to extend an olive branch, but he's not willing to be embarrassed or blindsided again," the source added.
The insider further claimed that any suggestion of media involvement or public spectacle could jeopardise future reconciliation efforts.
"If he sees any cameras or gets a whiff of troublemaking, that will be the end of things," the source said.
