Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly facing a difficult decision over whether to return to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
According to Closer, Harry is keen to build on a recent private reunion with King Charles and hopes to arrange another family visit soon. A Christmas trip is said to be one of the options under discussion.
“Getting the kids back together with Charles is absolutely top of Harry’s agenda right now,” a source told the outlet. “It’s practically all he can talk about.”
The insider claimed Harry has his heart set on bringing Archie and Lilibet to the UK for Christmas, although he would also like to arrange an earlier visit if the family can find time in their schedules.
Meghan, however, is reportedly hesitant about returning to Britain so soon after their latest trip.
The source said the Duchess of Sussex supports Harry’s efforts to repair his relationship with his father, but does not want the process to come at the expense of their family’s emotional well-being.
“It took all of Meghan’s strength to get through this last trip, so it’s got to feel pretty overwhelming that she’s already being asked to start planning for the next one,” the insider claimed.
According to the report, Meghan returned home feeling exhausted rather than reassured. The source also alleged that the travel arrangements, security concerns and family tensions placed considerable pressure on both her and Harry.
“The trip left her completely drained,” the insider said, adding that Meghan felt responsible for supporting Harry throughout the visit.
She is also said to be firmly against Archie and Lilibet travelling to the UK without her. Instead, Meghan reportedly believes members of the royal family should make more of an effort to visit the Sussexes at their home in California.
The family’s recent private meeting with King Charles was reportedly the monarch’s first in-person reunion with his grandchildren in several years.
Despite the significance of the occasion, the source claimed Meghan struggled to relax during the visit because of ongoing concerns about security.
“With all of the worries about security, there wasn’t a moment when she ever relaxed on this trip,” the insider said. “She was in full fight or flight the entire time.”
