The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the UK with their children in July 2026.
Prince Harry’s efforts to repair his relationship with King Charles appear to have made some progress, particularly following the Sussex family’s reported meeting with the monarch and Queen Camilla.
However, tensions between Harry and his elder brother, Prince William, remain unresolved.
The brothers’ relationship reportedly deteriorated further after disagreements linked to Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle. As the dispute intensified, most senior members of the Royal Family were seen as supporting King Charles and Prince William.
Charles has appeared more open to reconciliation, especially while undergoing cancer treatment. William, however, has shown little public interest in resolving his differences with Harry.
The King may also be reluctant to make any major decisions about Harry’s future relationship with the Royal Family without William’s support.
On Thursday, July 23, Meghan shared details that appeared to reveal where the Sussex family stayed during their visit to the UK. Photographs suggested they were accommodated at Althorp, the estate owned by Charles Spencer and the burial place of Princess Diana.
Charles Spencer, Diana’s younger brother, has largely remained outside the dispute between his nephews. His neutral position could make him a potential mediator, particularly as both Harry and William are believed to have a close relationship with him.
Harry has not indicated that he plans to return to the UK as a working royal. He has also not publicly expressed regret over his criticism of the Royal Family in interviews, documentaries and his memoir, Spare.
Nevertheless, he appears increasingly willing to bring the long-running conflict to an end.
Media reports have suggested that Harry is open to reconciliation, but any meaningful breakthrough may depend on William’s willingness to engage.
It is possible that Harry could ask Charles Spencer to help reopen communication with his brother. While there is no confirmation that such an approach has been made, Spencer may be one of the few people capable of bringing the brothers closer together.
Should he become involved, it could offer Harry and William a possible path towards rebuilding their relationship.
