Prince Harry reportedly has no plans to return to royal duties as he and Meghan Markle begin a new chapter in Britain.
After spending six years in the United States, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to view the UK as their long-term home. Their decision is reportedly driven by a desire to raise their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with British values and a close connection to Harry’s home country.
“The way he sees it is that he will be here for the next 12 to 15 years, minimum,” a friend of the couple told the Daily Mail.
The source said Harry plans to devote himself to being a full-time father and hopes to spend his weekends supporting his children, including watching Archie play rugby.
Meghan has reportedly known about Harry’s wishes for years, with the couple holding ongoing discussions about how and where they want to raise their family.
“It is not sudden,” the friend said, explaining that the move had been considered for some time.
The source also dismissed suggestions that Harry is looking to regain his former royal position or take on official engagements.
“There is no hankering after a royal status or royal engagements,” the friend said. “This is about Harry wanting what is best for them.”
According to the insider, Harry wants his children to grow up in Britain, embrace their British identity and attend school in the UK.
