Prince Harry is reportedly relying on Meghan Markle to help ease tensions with Queen Camilla as he attempts to rebuild his relationship with King Charles.
According to a source quoted by Heat, Harry was disappointed that he did not get an opportunity to spend time alone with his father during a recent visit to the UK. However, he reportedly accepted that meeting Charles also meant dealing with Camilla.
“Harry was pretty disappointed that he didn’t get even a moment alone with his father,” the source claimed. “But he had no choice but to accept the terms of the visit and make the best of it.”
The insider added that Harry and Meghan made an effort to remain friendly with Camilla, although the interaction was said to have felt “pretty awkward.”
Meghan is reportedly still hopeful that she can improve relations with the Queen, while Harry is believed to be more cautious.
“She’s not ready to accept that she can’t find a way to charm Camilla, but Harry’s much more realistic about it,” the source said.
The insider claimed that Harry believes Camilla plays a major role in controlling access to his father and influencing decisions involving the royal family.
“He’s known Camilla long enough to know how she operates,” the source continued. “She may smile, but Harry is not naive enough to take that at face value.”
The source went as far as describing Camilla as Charles’ “guard dog,” claiming Harry sees her as one of the biggest barriers to rebuilding trust with his father.
However, the insider also pointed out that Charles and Camilla now operate as a unit, much like Harry and Meghan.
“These days, you don’t get Charles without Camilla. They’re a package deal,” the source said. “In that way, they’re very similar to Harry and Meghan, so it’s not exactly something they can complain about without being hypocritical.”
Charles is also said to rely heavily on Camilla when making personal decisions. According to the source, her alleged concerns about Meghan’s intentions could therefore influence how the King approaches any future reconciliation with Harry.
“No matter how many gift baskets Meghan sends, it’s very unlikely Camilla will soften her stance,” the insider claimed. “In her mind, she’s protecting Charles from being hurt all over again.”
