Prince Harry may have dropped an early hint about returning to Britain nearly a year before reports of the Sussex family’s planned move emerged.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly preparing to relocate to the UK with their children later this month. Against that backdrop, Harry’s conversation with singer Joss Stone at the WellChild Awards in September 2025 now appears particularly telling.
Stone recently moved back to Britain with her family after living in the United States for several years. She later told Hello! magazine that Harry had shown a genuine interest in her decision to return home.
“He also asked about how we were settling back in and was genuinely interested in our move home,” she recalled. “He’s just very warm and down to earth, as always. Maybe Harry will move back too. That would be nice.”
According to Stone, Harry also spoke positively about schools in Britain and stressed the importance of children growing up with a strong sense of community.
“He was saying how wonderful the schools are here and how important community is for children,” the mother of four said.
Stone explained that family, friendship and security were among the main reasons she chose to move back.
“It was nice to share that with him because it’s exactly why we felt drawn to come back, for the kids to grow up surrounded by family, friends and a strong sense of belonging and, most importantly, in a safe environment,” she added.
At the time, their discussion appeared to be nothing more than a warm exchange between two parents. In light of the Sussexes’ reported plans, however, Harry’s interest in Stone’s move has taken on fresh significance.
Harry and Meghan are said to be setting up a private, non-royal home outside London, while Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are expected to begin school in Britain in September. The couple has not yet publicly confirmed the reported move.
