Buckingham Palace has marked four years since King Charles III became the British monarch.
The Palace shared a photo of the King’s official coronation portrait on Instagram. The painting was created to celebrate his coronation on May 6, 2023.
Artist Peter Kuhfeld painted the portrait over one year. It follows a centuries-old tradition of creating official portraits for British monarchs after their coronations.
The portrait is now displayed in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace. Visitors can see it during self-guided tours until September 27, 2026.
King Charles became monarch in September 2022 following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
