Sources made the claim to royal commentator Rob Shuter after Harry and Meghan reportedly moved back to the UK for an extended period.
Writing in his Naughty But Nice Substack newsletter, Shuter said the couple had planned one final celebrity-filled party in Montecito. They reportedly wanted to thank the famous friends who helped them build a new life in America.
The expected guests included Tyler Perry, Oprah Winfrey, David Foster and Kris Jenner. However, the sources claimed that none of them was available.
“They started quietly feeling people out, and the response was basically crickets,” an insider said. “They imagined this emotional send-off surrounded by the people who welcomed them to America. Instead, everyone was busy. It was embarrassing.”
According to the source, Harry and Meghan considered these people close friends rather than simple Hollywood contacts.
“Tyler gave them extraordinary support when they arrived. Oprah gave them a global platform,” the insider said. “Harry and Meghan genuinely believed they had built an American family.”
The source claimed the couple wanted to leave California surrounded by their friends, but “instead, they simply left.”
Harry and Meghan reportedly returned to the UK last week with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Neither the couple nor the celebrities named in the report have publicly confirmed the claims.
