Kate Middleton’s experience in the royal family has been different from Princess Diana’s, according to royal commentator Ingrid Seward.
Seward said Kate has faced the challenges of royal life with Prince William by her side, while Diana faced many of her struggles alone.
“Her life is not perfect, but it is rooted in a shared understanding with William, her husband, Diana’s son,” Seward said. “They face the institution together. Diana faced it alone.”
Seward also believes Kate has learned from the way Diana connected with the public. Diana shared a great deal of herself, which helped people feel close to her but also left her open to personal scrutiny.
According to Seward, Kate has taken a more careful approach. She connects with people while keeping parts of her life private to protect herself.
