King Charles could face a serious problem if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle try to act as part-time working royals, according to royal commentator Kinsey Schofield.
Speaking to Fox News Digital after the couple’s joint appearance, Schofield said the late Queen Elizabeth had made her position clear: they could not leave their royal duties while keeping some parts of an official royal role.
Schofield suggested that Charles may need to step in if Harry and Meghan try to create a similar arrangement.
She said the couple’s titles and worldwide fame allow them to hold events that look like official royal visits, even though they no longer represent the monarchy.
Schofield added that Charles has shown he can make firm decisions to protect himself and the monarchy. She questioned whether he would take the same approach with his younger son.
She also claimed that some royal supporters are becoming frustrated and want the King to take a firmer position with Harry and Meghan.
Meanwhile, other reports suggest the couple were delighted by the warm welcome they received during their joint visit.
Those reports claim the response strengthened Harry’s belief that they belong in Britain and could eventually return to royal duties full-time. However, no confirmed plan for such a return was provided.
