Speaking to GQ, Harry said he wanted reconciliation and hoped the family could work through their problems.
Commentator Nick Ede told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that William may have mixed feelings about his brother’s comments.
Ede suggested that the brothers still share a bond, but that trust between them has been badly damaged. He believes William would want to protect Catherine and their children from more private family matters becoming public.
In Ede’s view, William would need to feel sure that Harry’s wish to reconnect is sincere and that any talks would remain private.
Ede also said that Harry’s memoir, Spare, and the couple’s Netflix documentary had made rebuilding trust harder because they shared personal details about the royal family.
He explained that forgiveness does not automatically mean trust has been restored. While Harry and Meghan have the right to share their experiences, he said, making family disagreements public can affect those relationships.
According to Ede, meaningful actions would do more to repair the rift than another interview or public statement.
He added that a reunion could send a positive message about forgiveness, but it should happen privately, away from cameras and headlines.
Ede also expressed concern about the effect on the next generation, saying it would be sad if William’s and Harry’s children grew up without knowing one another because of the feud.
