Princess Anne honours Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi at Windsor Castle

Princess Anne hosted an honours ceremony at Windsor Castle on behalf of King Charles, with Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi among the recipients.

The royal family’s official Instagram account shared photos of the event on Wednesday, September 30. The pictures showed the Princess Royal speaking with several people receiving awards.

Iommi, Black Sabbath’s lead guitarist and co-founder, received an MBE for his services to music and charity.

Other recipients included campaigner Natalie Cumming, who received an MBE for her work supporting Holocaust remembrance and the Missing People charity.

Detective Superintendent Alison Fossey of the States of Jersey Police also received an MBE for her services to policing and the wider Jersey community.

Royal followers and music fans shared messages of support in the comments. One wrote: “So proud of you Tony!!! Congratulations!”

Black Sabbath formed in Birmingham, England, in 1968. Its founding members were Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward.
