Queen Camilla joins Zara Tindall and former husband at Ascot

Queen Camilla attended British Champions Day at Ascot racecourse in Berkshire on Saturday. She was seen sharing a hug with Zara Tindall, Princess Anne’s daughter.

The event is described as Britain’s richest day of horse racing, with £4.35 million in prize money.

Camilla wore a bright blue coat dress with buttons, a navy hat and a horseshoe pin. Zara wore a grey tweed jacket and matching hat, a brown leather skirt and loose-fitting suede boots.

According to The Independent, Camilla enjoyed a drink in the Royal Box, where her former husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, was also seen.

The Queen smiled during the trophy presentation as jockey William Buick collected an award for his win.

Her visit came two days after BBC Two aired a documentary featuring her. The programme aimed to encourage more people in the UK to read for pleasure.

Camilla, 79, has loved reading throughout her life. She started a book club on social media during the pandemic and, following its success, launched a reading charity three years ago.

According to the National Literacy Trust, enjoyment of reading among children and young people in Britain fell to its lowest level in 20 years last year. The organisation is working with the government and Camilla’s charity to encourage more young people to enjoy books.
