Doria Ragland could join Meghan Markle, Harry and their children for Christmas in the UK

Spending the festive season with Meghan’s mother was “always the plan”, according to royal expert Emily Nash.

Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, will reportedly travel to Britain to spend Christmas with her daughter, Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet.

According to Hello!, the Sussexes have changed their Christmas arrangements and now plan to celebrate in the UK, with Doria joining them. The reported change follows earlier claims that they would head back to California.

Royal expert Emily Nash previously told A Right Royal Podcast that spending Christmas with Doria was “always the plan”.

Last month, friends of Harry and Meghan told The Times that the couple had no intention of joining the Royal Family at Sandringham. They suggested that ongoing tensions would make the gathering too uncomfortable.

At the time, the Sussexes were reportedly planning to return to their Montecito home in California, with their holiday arrangements centred on Doria’s wishes.

“For Thanksgiving and Christmas, they will do whatever Doria wants to do,” a source said.

The source also dismissed the possibility of the couple attending the royal celebrations.

“They won't be having Christmas with the royal family. How could that even work? They know it would be too awkward and too difficult. They also know they're not going to be invited, and they're not waiting for an invitation.”

Harry and Meghan last spent Christmas with the Royal Family at Sandringham in 2018, following their wedding in May that year.
